This is what the new Aston Martin AMR21 from Vettel and Stroll looks like

This is what the Aston Martin AMR21 looks like, returning to green on the Formula 1 grid sixty years after its last foray into the World Championship. The images of the car that Lance Stroll and Sebastian Vettel will drive this season have been released in an online presentation at the headquarters of the British team. The car that takes over from Racing Point does not leave anyone indifferent and represents a step forward in the ambitious project initiated by Canadian millionaire Lawrence Stroll, who recovers an icon of motorsport for F1 after the iconic luxury car company competed for last time in 1960 with Maurice Trintignant's DBR5 at Silverstone. The British track will be precisely the setting chosen to put on track thisOn Thursday, March 4, the new AMR21 from Vettel and Stroll.

As expected and as confirmed by Sebastian Vettel this morning, green is the predominant color in the car. It also bears the signature of several global partners, led by US IT giant Cognizant, while the chassis features a magenta stripe down the side in reference to the team's longtime partner, BWT.

The stunning new AMR21 begins a truly significant chapter in the brand's 108-year history. The car was unveiled a few minutes ago in a highly anticipated global immersive virtual launch. Described by Aston Martin CEO Lawrence Stroll as a "major event in automotive history."

Today's event also highlighted the change that a return to the grid represents for Aston Martin, as the team will become the global showcase for the brand's engineering and performance capabilities. In fact, a new 200,000 square meter facility, which will be available in the second half of 2022, will complement the existing Aston Martin F1 factory at Silverstone, and will be an innovation laboratory to drive the brand's future road car technologies. These will include the set of mid-engined sports cars, inspired by the Aston Martin Valkyrie, which will become a central element of the product portfolio over the next decade.

Aston Martin may have been absent from F1 for 61 years, but the brand's competitive credentials remain intact: The company was formed by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford in 1913 with motorsport at the center of their business. Next year will mark a century since Aston Martin made its Grand Prix debut (in France 1922), and the brand has enjoyed great success in sports car racing throughout its history, including victory in the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans. Most recently, Aston Martin became the double class winner with the Vantage GTE at last year's race at La Sarthe and is the reigning GT FIA Endurance Manufacturers World Champion.

The Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team also comes from a strong lineage, built on the foundations of Team Silverstone, which in its various forms has won five grands prix and comes as a result of a winning campaign of races like Racing Point Formula One Team, which has been revitalized under the leadership of Lawrence Stroll and Team Principal and CEO Otmar Szafnauer.

The new AMR21 is powered by a turbocharged Mercedes-AMG F1 M12 E Performance engine with hybrid energy recovery.

Aston Martin Lagonda CEO Lawrence Stroll says "I have dreamed of this day for a long time. I have always been a car fan and have also enjoyed racing. My first dream was to have a Formula One ™ team. My second dream was to acquire a significant stake in Aston Martin Lagonda. Today those two dreams merge. So, as I say, today is about dreams, and it shows that dreams can really come true, and here they take the form of our new AMR21 ".

“The team that designed and built this new Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One, the 500 men and women who conceive, manufacture, build and prepare our cars so that we can compete at the top of world motorsport, have always done their best. Now, as an Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One team, you have the power to hit even harder. This is just the beginning. The team is moving forward and our ambitions are limitless. Now we have the pieces in place, the people and the partners, to make real progress."

“The launch of the new AMR21 is also the celebration of a new beginning for Aston Martin. Today's transformative event has provided us with the opportunity to communicate the evolution of the iconic Aston Martin Wings logo for the twelfth time in the company's 108-year history. The car is the ultimate expression of performance, innovation, engineering quality, attention to detail and teamwork from our group. For that reason, it is natural that our new logo makes its debut in our new F1", has settled Stroll .

"Racing under the Aston Martin name is a bright future for this team. It is a name known throughout the world and has a lot of history behind it. In the motor world, it is a car brand with a lot of name, and being part of this brand this year is a great thing. We have attracted many sponsors and we are looking forward to starting the season,"said his son Lance at the presentation.

Aston Martin Lagonda CEO Tobias Moers added that "This is a truly historic moment for Aston Martin as we return to the top of motorsport for the first time in over 60 years. The team will have far-reaching positive effects on the Aston Martin brand, our culture and Aston Martin road car design and technology Our return to Formula One will positively and profoundly affect all employees and, above all, the trajectory of our customers around the world; and it will help us bring a focused and agile Formula One ™ mindset to the entire Aston Martin business."

“Indeed, the Formula One team will become a dynamic and exciting laboratory of innovation to drive future technologies and the performance of Aston Martin road cars that will truly set our cars apart for years to come. Aston Martin has always made beautiful cars. Now, as we begin a new era for Aston Martin in Formula 1, we will bring more innovation and more performance."

Alpine A521, Fernando Alonso's car in detail

The new colors give it an unmistakable look on the 2021 grid, but there are several significant changes to the RS20, the latest in the Renault F1 saga.

The middle area of   the car, from the beginning of the ground and the rear, with a redefinition of the suspensions, with an upper triangle and a very very short stay, concentrates most of the novelties of a car that already in 2022 will change for complete with the new FIA regulations, with the cars that will regain ground effect, with nothing in common with the current ones.

For some analysts, the round volume of the pontoons, which goes against the trend of most current cars, which fall straight towards the engine, and the widening of the engine cover in the area of   the intake Top engine air, tower-like, focus on improving engine cooling, and one put on reliability, over aerodynamic gain.

Time will tell if it is a truly competitive car, like the one at the end of 2020, or if on the contrary, a car that is simply transitioning to the new regulations. The improvement of the engine concentrates a good part of the hopes of being a car to be reckoned with from the beginning of the year at the Bahrain Grand Prix, on March 28.
