Cristiano Ronaldo Moves To Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo is leaving Juventus Turin to return to Manchester United. The club had reached an agreement with the Italian club on a move, United wrote. The transfer is completed when the last personal details have been clarified with the 36-year-old Portuguese. This includes a visa and the usual medical check.

Shortly before, Ronaldo had expressed his desire to leave Juventus Turin. "I spoke to Cristiano. He told me that he didn't want to stay with Juventus," said Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri. According to the Italian Gazetta dello Sport , United has offered the Italian record champions a transfer fee of 28 million euros.

"He knows how we feel for him. If he ever wants to move, he'll know we're here," said United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who described Ronaldo as "one of the greatest of all time". Initially, United's local rivals Manchester City were the favorites to sign Ronaldo. "Anything can happen in these three or four days until the end of the transfer window," said city coach Pep Guardiola. "There are only a few players and Ronaldo is one of them who decide where to play."

Ronaldo joined Manchester United in 2003 at the age of 18 and left the club in 2009 for the then record sum of 94 million euros for Real Madrid . He scored 450 goals in 438 competitive games for the Spanish record champions before moving to Turin in 2018. There the striker won two championships and one cup with the club. His contract with Juve would have been valid for another year, and there has been talk of a possible change this season for weeks.

With this, Ronaldo joins the soccer stars who change clubs in the last section of the transfer window. Another player could soon join this group: Kylian Mbappé is reportedly in negotiations with Real Madrid. The Paris Saint-Germain professional has so far refused to extend his contract, which will expire in 2022, which means that his club can only charge a transfer fee this season.

According to the French L'Equipe , he should be allowed to go to Real Madrid for 170 million euros, Paris Saint-Germain had rejected an offer of 160 million euros. Paris had previously signed Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona,   whose salary was no longer affordable for the Spanish club.
