What did the Bavarians do?
They had no opponent, just Barça. The former world eleven has not been a top international team for several years. You still had the 8-2 draw against Bayern from August 2020 in your heads and bones - at that time Lionel Messi was still on the pitch. The Catalans went about it defensively, with five defenders. But that is not for this club.

The defeat was narrower compared to the previous year, 0: 3. But the result wasn't much better. Barça didn't score a single shot on goal. Friends of the true, good, and beautiful game were hurt by this anemic non-soccer while watching. You almost felt sorry for Barça. And as it is sometimes with an ex: It doesn't go with, it doesn't work without.
Barça are no longer competitive against Bayern. The club recently handed over many outstanding footballers to the competition - such as Lionel Messi , Antoine Griezmann or Luis Suárez - or lost them to old age. The team is individually weaker than Bayern, especially slower. It doesn't help that the midfield was a bit better on the ball than the opponent.
The Bavarians, dressed in extremely ugly jerseys with an alpine design, managed the task in a concentrated but casual manner. They spared the enemy by holding back. All goals were crooked things, however. Thomas Müller's long-range shot was deflected. Robert Lewandowski scored two stabs after hitting the post, the attacks were imprecise. Nevertheless: FC Bayern is one of the favorites in the competition.
And Wolfsburg?
The Bundesliga leaders got away with a 0-0 win at French champions Lille after a weak but strongly talked-about performance by the coach. In the first Champions League game after a good five years, VfL parked the Touareg in front of the gate, especially after the yellow-red card against John Anthony Brooks. That worked, with luck. The video referee recognized a goal and a penalty for Lille, each after a millimeter decision. All German football fans who are fevered with the wolves could take a deep breath.
What else was there?
Ronaldo also scored in the Champions League , once. But twice, like at the weekend in the Premier League, would have been better, because his team lost 2-1 in the 95th minute at Young Boys Bern, the David Wagner team, who had earned a bit in relegation to Schalke. The hot-blooded Swiss celebrated exuberantly and the Wankdorf shook.
Robin Gosens, the only German national player who caused a little euphoria at the European Championships, "the mentality monster from the Lower Rhine" (Amazon), secured his team from Bergamo the late equalization with the Europa League winner Villarreal.
