Oman beat Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets in the opening match of the ICC T20 World Cup.

In the first match of the first round of the T20 World Cup, hosts Oman won the toss and elected to field first against Papua New Guinea. Papua New Guinea scored 129 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs while playing first. Achieved the target without any loss.

Papua New Guinea suffered a loss early in the innings and lost two wickets, but the batsmen who came later showed some responsibility.

Papua New Guinea's Asad Wala scored 56 runs, scoring a half-century with the help of three sixes and four fours.

Apart from them, Charles Amini scored 37 and Sisi Bau 13 runs while Zeeshan Maqsood from Oman took 4 wickets for 20 runs, Kaleemullah and Bilal Khan took two wickets each.

Earlier, Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood had said after winning the toss that he was happy to host the T20 World Cup.

Zeeshan Maqsood said that the pitch is conducive for bowlers and will help spinners.
