After 1-1 At ManCity: West Brom Dismisses Coach Bilic

Slaven Bilic (52) is no longer coach of West Bromwich Albion after 17 months. Despite a success at the end.

Only the most optimistic West Brom fans expected a draw at Manchester City and Pep Guardiola on Tuesday, but obviously not the club's management.

Despite the respectable success at the runner-up, the Premier League promoted team split from coach Slaven Bilic on Wednesday, who had led the Baggies back into the first division in the first place.

The team presented itself too weakly in the season so far, and the overall situation was and is too bad. The 1-1 draw in Manchester brought West Brom one of just seven points. Only Sheffield United (one counter) are currently more unsuccessful. The Baggies have lost five of their last seven league games, including a solid 5-1 at home to Crystal Palace. There is also said to have been a crisis between Bilic and the club management.

Bilic took over the coaching position in the West Midlands in July 2019 and promptly made the promotion. The former KSC professional had previously worked with BVB trainer Edin Terzic at West Ham United or Besiktas in Istanbul.
